Natural Living Designs is a small team of highly experienced designers and consultants. We focus on start to finish holistic design and implementation of real estate, ecological landscaping, and construction. Our goal is to guide our clients through the process of developing a vision, designing regenerative systems and houses, and then bringing it all to life.
In the case of regenerative design, we strive to make each property we work with more diverse, productive, and beautiful than it was before we started. With this unique approach, our designs and creations are rooted with holistic and innovative thinking, and carried out with experience and expertise.

OUR TEAM
Brendon McKeon
Brendon McKeon has been obsessed with all things related to a sustainable lifestyle for over 25 years, and has actively been designing and implementing permaculture systems for the last 13 years. He arrived in Costa Rica in 2006 to pursue his passion for tropical permaculture and homesteading. After designing and building his 40 acre permaculture farm, he began to help others realize the same dream. His extensive resume now includes the design and creation of eco-villages, regenerative neighborhoods, retreat centers, private permaculture farms, and the building of eco-tropical homes. In his free time he can usually be found outdoors pruning his fruit trees, paragliding, riding dirt bikes and on adventures with his family.

One of our most valuable skills at NLD is creating a thorough holistic design for your dream project. We begin with a diligent site assessment and continue to use our experience and expertise to design a permaculture based master plan. This includes water systems, earth movement and roads, power sources or renewable energy plans, layout of perennial food systems, greenhouses, structures, beautiful homes, and any other infastructure your dream project calls for!
At Natural Living Designs creation is our forté. We are a hands-on team that takes pride in our start to finish reliability.
We guide you in choosing appropriate action steps from the master plan, and then, with our specialty teams of landscape/ farmscape creators and construction crews, we create efficient and beautiful manifestations of your dream vision!
Juan Carlos Mena Godinez
Juan Carlos Mena Godinez was born and raised in Costa Rica, and began farming with his family shortly after he could walk. He grew up in a village where there was no electricity or cars until he was a teenager, and growing their own food was standard practice. For many years, he has continued to explore his passion for a set sufficient lifestyle, and dove deep into the philosophy of permaculture when he discovered it in his early 20’s. Juan Carlos is a master at functional design, and turning those designs into physical reality. When he is not working on one of his permaculture projects, he spends time tending to his farm, riding motorcycles, caring for his extensive aqua-culture systems and enjoying his family.
